Pravin Mainali jailed for 18 months for scamming

20 year old Pravin Mainali will be spending one and a half years, 18 months to be exact in the Sydney Jail.

Pravin was caught by the NSW police force after he scammed elderly Australian citizens out of thousands of dollars. He was taken in police custody in March 2020, under alleged involvement in a credit card scam.

It is believed that Pravin Mainali scammed AUD $ 18,500 from four Australian citizens by stealing their credit card details. He used the credit cards 21 times to withdraw the money.

However, Pravin wasn’t working alone. The police have mentioned that he was working with people from India. The scam was taking place from a call center in India and Pravin Mainali was withdrawing cash in Australia then sending it to India.
For his fraud case, Pravin Mainali was arrested from his home in Burwood on the 3rd of March. He pleaded guilty to the charges laid against him at Burwood Local Court on the 5th of March.

The Court decided that Pravin will face a jail time of 18 months. He will then be deported back to Nepal on the December of 2021 after he finishes his sentence.

Recently, Neha giri and Aayush Bhattarai were caught on similar fraud case in Sydney. The NSW court has yet to decide the punishment for their crimes.
