Respected Sir/Madam,
I am Nischaya born on 4th Feb 1997, a permanent resident of Chitwan, Bharatpur ward no. 10 submitting this statement of purpose for my further studies in Australia. Having heard and known so much about Wentworth Institute, I would heartily like to request you to provide me a chance to attach myself with Wentworth Institute to continue my further study in Bachelor of Interactive Multimedia. In the ever-changing world of Technology, where each new day sees a spate of new concepts and applications, I want to attain the highest level of education and place myself in line with opportunities where I can work on the cutting edge. My fundamental reason for wanting to pursue bachelor in Information Technology is my passion to reach the zenith of my chosen field.
Academic Background
Regarding my academic background, I passed my +2 in Science with 66.8% from V.S Niketan in the year 2015. In my +2, I studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and Computer. I passed my SLC (school leaving certificate) in 2013 scoring 69.19% from Emmanuel English Boarding School, Dhulikhel, Kavre. In addition, I have done IELTS and scored 6.5 overall (Listening 6.0, Reading 7.0, Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.5). After my academics and IELTS, I started researching for the universities and colleges in Australia and finally concluded to pursue my further studies i.e. Bachelor of Interactive Media for March Intake.
Reasons for choosing Australia
I choose Australia for my higher studies because Australia is the most safe destination for any student to enhance their education further ahead. Australia is a safe, friendly, sophisticated and harmonious society in which students can learn and travel. People from almost every aspect of world reside here; students can be a part of multicultural environment and cultural activities. Apart from this great care is taken in looking for international students and helping them to adjust the Australian way of life. Also, Australia has a low crime rate and strict gun control laws providing a safe environment. Comparing to the other popular destinations i.e. USA and U.K living expenses and tuition costs in Australia are considerably less expensive than the U.K and USA. The cost of pursuing education and living in Australia is 40 to 60 per cent less than that of USA/UK, varying with the preferred location. While the UK closes doors for doctors and the US focuses more on IT professionals, international students choose Australia because it offers more job opportunities in multiple disciplines. In addition Australia offers more scholarship opportunities compared to the US or the UK as well. Australian courses are often shorter than alternatives in other countries, particularly in the US. Australian bachelor degree courses can be completed in three year as it works on a trimester system. This means I can save a whole year’s tuition fees if I to choose to study in Australian rather than in the US or the UK. The climate of Australia and Nepal are also quite similar so it won’t be any problem for me to adjust with the environment too. Though finding the similar course in my country Nepal, but studying in Nepal, I will have to compromise various factors like available courses/contents of Bachelor of Interactive Media are not up-to-date, teaching system in Nepal is still based on traditional approach, I may gain a degree here but I doubt of gaining an international exposure and I will have to stay away of holding international exposure. So considering and analyzing factors I really want to gain an Australian degree which will help me to complete in global business market later in the related field. I have chosen Australia for my further education for better degree.
Moreover, Australia is a dynamic, vibrant country with energetic, friendly people. Multicultural Australia is English-speaking and a safe and friendly society in which students can learn and travel freely. Australia offers an educational experience that makes a real difference. It provides a unique kind of education and a learning style that encourages one to be innovative, creative and think independently. Education in Australia teaches us to rely on your own initiatives and come up with original, practical solutions to real-world problems. Also, People of diverse cultures from over 190 countries reside in Australia which makes it very attractive for any student to study here. Other influential factors that attracted me to apply in Australia are: safe and vibrant, diversity and multi-culturalism, space to be innovative, reasonable study and low living costs, ESOS act 2000 and globally recognized courses and institutions.
Reasons for choosing Sydney
Sydney offers first-class education, professional experiences, cutting-edge research opportunities, a strong economy and a lifestyle that is unmatched. Sydney is an incredible city, an urban wonder full of glamour and natural charm. Sydney is world’s highest rated cities in terms of quality of life and according to “The economist’s Global Livability Report 2011”; it is one of the world’s most livable cities as well. Sydney being the dream city of most of the students has a unique feature of suburban beaches too. Along with a pleasant climate diverse culture and natural environment, there are many business channels in the city which can enhance the study of particular subject. It has everything it takes to be the greatest city in the world: amazing natural beauty, the planet’s most beautiful harbor, dynamic arts and culture landscape, innovative fashion scene, exceptional gastronomic reputation and an outdoor lifestyle most seductive than anywhere else.
Therefore, Sydney is the perfect destination for not only me but many other international students to enjoy the city life while studying.
Reasons of choosing Wentworth Institute
Established in 2005, Wentworth Institute is a Registered Training Organization and Higher Education provider situated in Sydney, NSW. I was in great dilemma to choose which Institute to pursue my higher studies but after researching a lot I found Wentworth Institute to be one of the best and most affordable & finally concluded to continue my study there because of its good guidance, homely environment, and friendly support and also of its liable fees. Moreover, searching and collecting more about this institute I came to know about its qualified and skilled teacher, staffs, and its high and recognized educational level which is exactly what a student looks for. And also the scholarship and offer it provides is far better than any other Universities. In comparison with other colleges like: Billy Blue College that offers the similar I found the Wentworth Institute to be the best and most affordable for me. The Digital Media design course offered by Billy Blue College was relatively exciting but they had very less provisions for International Students. In comparison to Wentworth where diversified courses, attractive fee structures with scholarship options for International students made me believe that I made a right choice. Similarly, I had also searched for any other available option and found through Cricos about Academy of Information Technology providing similar type of courses but for less duration i.e. just 104 weeks in comparison to Wentworth providing the course for 156 weeks. Thus, finally after all these research I decided that Wentworth is the best choice for me.
Regarding the research about the similar type of course available in my own country, I searched For Interactive media study in Nepal. Very few colleges like Islington and few colleges under Kathmandu University were having an approach to introduce the course. But, the technology and its development lacks in my country. We are far behind in the field of Digital Technology in compare to Australia. Similarly, the resources as well as skilled manpower giving us education are rarely available. Hence, after a thorough research I came to the decision of acquiring skill sets as well as ideas abroad for the betterment of my future.
Reasons for choosing Bachelor of Interactive Media
Multimedia technology as an Inseparable part of Interactive media is a field that continues to grow with new educational options every year. As, I am a student of +2 in science, I do have many choices in study sector. And at present, there are various opportunities in Nepal in context of Bachelor of Interactive Media.
It is very career oriented. The growing demand of experts in the field of Information Technology (IT) has also attracted me towards this course. Moreover, I am very fond of computers and want to know more about them. After the graduation, there are various opportunities to work as flash developers, sound experts, animators, graphic designer. etc.
Multimedia unites digital culture, media and computer technology with networks and creativity, allowing for new ways of expression, production, exchange and leisure to emerge. Various industries have seen a rapid transformation over the past two decades leading to the appearance of multimedia professionals ranging from web designer to game developer, from media producer to web content manager, and from film maker to PR manager. This theory- and practice-based course immerses you in leading-edge aspects of new media practice along the lines of interaction design, and digital culture, teaching you to initiate, design, produce and manage projects. Joining the aesthetic, political and social debates focusing on digital media, and adding on to them in imaginative ways, you will produce a personal portfolio of work.Having a degree in this course will help to enhance and actualize creative potential by refining my skills in critical and analytical thinking and by cultivating an understanding of the underpinnings of the professional applications of design principles in multimedia environments. It prepares to create next-generation technology and media applications. Students will usually make significant use of design studios, computer labs and other communication resources throughout the program. Through this use, students may create things such as digital illustrations and flash animations.
This program provides a comprehensive foundation for the understanding and application of communication and design principles in multimedia in its variety of formats, from the traditional to the contemporary. It explores the history and development of communication as it exists today through conventional media such as print publications, film, television and video, to more contemporary and emergent technologies such as the internet with its multiple social communication and web application options. The course aims to enhance and actualize creative potential by refining my skills in critical and analytical thinking and by cultivating an understanding of the underpinnings of the professional applications of design principles in multimedia environments.
After being a graduate of this program I will have the ability to think critically and analytically within an ethical context; to work effectively with people and systems; to understand and apply design principles and theories; and to work within an extensive range of industries. I will be able to integrate theory with practice and contribute creatively as a Multimedia Specialist in a wide spectrum of industries which incorporate multimedia or to continue to work towards their professional qualifications.
Future plans after my course completion
After graduation and experiencing further knowledge in this field, I would like to return back to my motherland and plan to work as being a Video game developer/web developer. Therefore I am very confident that the degree that I will gain from Wentworth Institute will make me a competitive candidate to promote professionalism in the sector of IT back in Nepal. As I am prepared mentally as well as well as financially with the support of my family, I can be assured that this is a right time to walk closer to my dream and to extend my knowledge and skills.
Being emotionally attached with my motherland, I would surely like to serve my nation by being a part of its economic and development activities but only on the role of successful, skilled person in IT. Furthermore, I am the only son of my parents and there are many dreams of my parents that they see through my eyes. So, for fulfilling ones responsibility and also contributing a little for all the love, care, support they have provided me, I wish to return back to my own country. Lastly, I would like to thank Wentworth Institute for providing me with a golden chance to present my words and I declare that the particulars given above are true and correct in every detail.
