Introduction:

I am*, son of *and * permanent resident of*, Nepal. I am * years old holding passport number*. I have completed my SLC (School Leaving Certificate) in * from*. Then I join *for higher education (10+2) and complete in * from Science faculty with *%. I joined 6 months Hardware & Networking level computer tanning course in New Universal Computer Institute (NUCI). While in training I came to realize that in order to achieve my career goals I need to broaden my knowledge and skill and for that I have to continue my further education. I did investigation relating higher education in my own country in some of the IT education providers of my country like: Softwarica College, Pulchowk Engineering College, Crimson College of Technology, Lumbini Engineering college, KNIT, KMC and so on. I found that all these institutions give more emphasis on theoretical knowledge rather than practical knowledge. I came across this fact when I consulted with several seniors who were studying in above mentioned institution. I decided to do my further study in abroad and I reappeared in IELTS test and got overall 6 each band which was held on *th November 2016. Also, I completed my 6 months training (*st October 2016 to *th April 2016). At the same time I started searching for right institute which meets my requirements. I attended many seminars provided by different agents and I made a final conclusion that to apply in Australia. I did research on various Universities like University of Technology Sydney, Southern Cross University, Federation University, University of Sunshine coast, Deakin University, Charles Sturt University, CQU and so on. I know about Australian Qualification framework (AQF) I realized that how systematic is Australian education system. Qualification frameworks ranges from 1 to 10 and each qualification framework has specific purpose and supposed to develop specific skill sets on completion of the respective degree. I found my higher secondary level equivalent to Australian AQF IV or Certificate IV. I think studying through Advance Diploma will help me to go with Australian education with ease as it would be very difficult to cope up with the new education system if I opt for bachelor degree as Nepalese education system and Australian education system are totally different. AQF has given me a clear insight of study that I would be following. I first will study and Advanced diploma which is Vocation Education Training (VET). With the completion of advanced diploma I would have developed skills like cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyze and act on information from a range of sources. I could demonstrate and deliver understanding of my specialization on the field that I am seeking to make my career and finally concluded to choose *for Advance diploma.

Why Australia?

I did a lot of research relating higher education in my own country and other countries like USA, UK, Germany, Finland, Australia, Denmark, New Zealand, India, china and finally concluded to study in Australia. After my research I came to know that Australia has multicultural and peaceful cities, mild climate with high quality education. Furthermore, students who study in Australia can take advantage of the country’s impressive technology and research resources. Australia is the best destination for international students to go to beside United State and UK. Australia has got some of the best colleges in the world if we look at the list of top colleges in the world. I found that after getting degree from universities of Australia students achieve practical knowledge and they can perform excellence in work place. International students who study in Australia and soon after their graduation student can easily get opportunities to challenge on today’s international job market. Studying information technology is very sensitive as there are very new innovation and technological advance day by day. Technologically Australia is advance, forward thinking country and their innovation and technology has profited million around the world and faster than other countries for example millennium is the highest rates of internet access in the world. Millions of the people around the globe relay on Australian innovation. With the population of about 23 million, Australia has already received 15 Nobel Prize.

The cost of studying IT is extensively lower in Australia than they are in the United States and United Kingdom. Australia has a modern education, highly educated culture with a thirst for knowledge and research. In order to make high standard the system is carefully regulated by Australian government. There is incredible support services from colleges of Australia for whatever students need to beat the troubles of being a international students, relating with study, language improvement or social engagement For me, studying should not get only focused on course syllabus. Rather it means learning new ideas, new cultures, the way how to get involved and participate in  over all development that could build up a strong confidence to grab the future goal. International student get opportunities for specialized research training that develops skills in research and get knowledge of new technology and development. Also, Australia has The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework which protects the rights of international students studying in Australia and Tuition protection service (TPS) which ensure international student to complete their studies in alternative institution or refund their unspent tuition fees if suitable alternative is not found. I am very much aware that I am applying for the higher education visa subclass 500. There are six visa conditions that I should follow whilst in Australia:

  • I must maintain overseas student health cover (OSHC) policy for the full duration of Visa and eligibility,
  • I have to inform DIBP/College of any change in address within seven days,
  • I must maintain at least 80% attendance in my course as per education provider,
  • I must Score minimum of 50% in each subject to pass. I must maintain the payment of tuition fees by the census date of each term in which I am enrolled to study.
  • As an international student, I can work only 40 hours per fortnight,
  • I cannot change my education provider or course for the first six months.

Why .. College (..)?

With the decision of studying VET course and going through Advance Diploma in IT, I started searching for VET providers. There were hundreds of education providers and choosing one from them was really difficult. By doing much research finally I chose * because I believe it is one of the most exhaustive and globally recognized institutions in Australia that offers many programs and courses over wide range of study area. Beside this, its extensive student support service that aims to endeavor for an international students to gain academically, socially and culturally is very impressive in comparison to support services that other institution in Australia provide. * offers practical industrial experiences that will be really good for me and also offers tremendous experienced and highly qualified teachers and they have significant industry real life experience and take that in the class.*, also aims to provide us and professionals with increased skills to enable us to enter and complete in the Australian marketplace: its training offerings start with introducing students from schools and universities to employment market through job ready courses. Digital infrastructure supports a place where students, employers and educators engage and participate in learning and assessment, with access to information and learning support services. Studying in modern, outstanding campus facilities with latest equipments in *I was a boon for my undergraduate study. It will help to build my career. Some of it courses include internship or industry placement opportunities, which provide students with real-world experience. Another reason for choosing *is much affordable as compared to other education provider such as TAFE NSW, Wentworth, HIBT, Strathfield, Sydney Metro College, Pacific College, Harbour College, ATMC etc. *regularly host exciting social events, such as Australian Day breakfasts, Student Showcase Exhibitions, and afternoon teas for their current students. *campus is located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, and is easily accessible from Central Station and Haymarket. So, after evaluating all these factors I finally choose *for my further study.

Why Information Technology?

I have been studying Computer subject from grade 4 and always got good marks in computer. After completing +2 I decided to study Information Technology as I am good computer student and IT is also related to my previous studies as well as I had a keen interest in science and technology from my schooling and want to become IT professional. IT has played vital role in 21st century. IT is noble field with many opportunities. All these has been possible through information technology like telephone, fax, telex, computers, internet, email etc and are becoming a part and parcel of our lives and are transforming lifestyles and habits of people all over the world. IT is such a subject that incorporates new technology and its definition keeps on changing with time. There is fun, creativity and money in this profession. I dream of working as a IT expert or any other renowned IT firms in future. Also there are very few qualified IT professionals in the market due to which there is high demand of IT professionals in the days to come. From my childhood I was fascinated by computer related things. The dynamic world of IT and communication requires skilled expertise in computer technology, telecommunication, multimedia as well as the knowledge of network. After completing the course I will have different opportunities like: Business Analyst, ICT Project Manager, Network Specialist, Software Developer, Web Developer, Systems Analyst in well known IT industries of Nepal such as Nepal Telecom, Ncell, Verisk Information Technologies, Deerwalk Services, BrainDigit IT Solution, Sprout Technology and many more.

It has application in multiple aspects in present world. I plan to take what I learn in Australia and apply it to the computing industry in my motherland. Based on the modern skills, professional knowledge and way of work, I will get my increased professional value, demand and position offers in Nepal. Developing country like Nepal needs numbers of skilled IT professionals to take part in developing the nation. This industry is rapidly growing and shows great potential for having career in this field.  After pursuing *degree, I think I will easily get job placement in leading IT companies like Nepal Telecom, Ncell, Deerwalk, Verisk Information Technology, Aviente, Braindigit, sprout technology and also in leading internet service providers (ISP) like Worldlink, Broadlink, classic tech, Subishu etc in different post like network engineer, network specialist and many other positions. While working as a network engineer at this prestigious institution, I hope I will earn 70,000 to 80,000 NRS per month. The salary will increase as per my performance. I preferred this job because it is governmental job and has huge scopes. Furthermore, my future will be also secured by governmental job rather than private one.

Final words

After graduation of my degree I will return back to my motherland and serve the nation. Nepal is developing country and it has better career scope for the internationally graduate IT professional as there are shortages of the qualified expert in IT industries in Nepal.
